FADED GLORIES
Several years ago, while living in Amsterdam, I went to dispose of some wilted flowers, which were sitting on the table. As I carried them to the trash, I observed that the dried petals had a texture and quality that reminded me of some beautiful hand-made silk flowers that I had seen in a shop in Milan, Italy where I had lived previously.
I thought that these textures might be interesting to photograph and discovered an interesting combination of background and lighting which brings out the hidden beauty of these “past their prime” beauties. Little did I realize that I was embarking on a project, which would take several years, and continues to this day!
The outcome of my Faded Glories adventure is a collection of beautiful images that are available as prints in sizes ranging from 12” X 12” to 44” X 44” —framed as well as unframed. The larger prints really highlight the detail and look very impressive.
